Tail feathers
The (normally) long feathers protruding from the rear of the bird. Some are very long and pointed, such as in the Northern Pintail.
Taxonomy
The branch of science that deals with classification of plants and animals. We often use a portion of the classification to refer to a given organism: genus and species. For example, the Wood Duck’s scientific name is Aix sponsa.
Tertial feathers (tertials)
Feathers along the trailing edge of the wing closest to the bird’s body; often long and colorful
Throat
The front of the neck.
